This is a CG short film that investigates the profound questions at the intersection of human identity and artificial intelligence. It explores whether entities created by AI can possess human-like qualities such as souls, and how these creations alter our understanding of life itself.
Concept Development
The idea was inspired by philosophical inquiries into the essence of humanity and the potential of AI.
At the core of the story is the enigmatic birth from a mechanical gynoid, raising pivotal questions: If AI is granted the capacity to create life, how do we interpret such creations? Are they human, do they possess souls, and what does their existence mean for the definition of life itself? The narrative challenges viewers to reconsider the nature of creation and the criteria that define humanity in an increasingly technologized world.
PROCESSBOOK
Character Design
The mechanical gynoid and the AI-created life form are designed to visually represent the blend of human and machine, with features that are eerily lifelike yet distinctly synthetic.
Set Design
In the film, the interplay between humans and AI and the essence of life and souls are artistically embedded into set design, symbolism, and scene transitions. I have used some symbolic elements like the cage-like cradle to underscore themes of protection and confinement, emphasizing the dual nature of AI creations.
Visually, the film illustrates the shifting roles between humans and AI, using strategic positioning and lighting to reflect changing dynamics of dominance, inviting deep reflection on AI’s evolving role in shaping human ethics and behaviors.
